A slew of “guru” transaction are now available online. While I don’t pay attention to each individual filing, I do pay attention to the one’s I semi-follow on this blog to see if any trends develop. For example, during certain periods certain sectors become undervalued and more often than not, gurus will cherry pick the best companies in the sector. Not exactly the most efficient way, but it gives you an idea of what can be done if you are into following gurus.
One of those gurus that I look forward to the most is Seth Klarman’s transactions. They are a bit “different” to say the least. This quarter his portfolio transactions looks as follows. By the way, most of these can easily be found pm gurufocus.com, a site which constantly tracks gurus and their portfolios.
- New Purchases: EXXI
- Added Positions: ADCT, ENZN, VSAT,
- Reduced Positions: UFS, VOXX,
- Sold Out: DTV,
Energy XXI (Bermuda) Limited is a perfect example of why I look forward to Seth Klarman‘s transactions, there’s a good chance you will not hear the company mentioned on financial networks. By taking a quick look at its balance sheet, Energy XXI appears to have several natural gas and oil reserves that the market is not giving it credit for.
